What concrete producers look for
A fine aggregate for concrete needs a known grading, low fines and no harmful substances. Clay and dust raise water demand. Humus and chloride reduce the durability of concrete and reinforcement.
Our sand is dredged from the bed of the Vistula with a cutter suction dredger. The slurry passes a dewatering screen and the water returns to the river. The sand is washed as part of extraction, not as an extra step.
Key properties
All values come from initial type testing to EN 12620 (AG-CEL Laboratory, report 20200916/582/19/01). The full table is on the technical data page and in the Declaration of Performance.
- Aggregate size 0/4 mm, grading category GF85
- Fines content (< 0.063 mm): 0.4 %, category f3
- Sand equivalent SE4: 90
- Water-soluble chloride: < 0.01 %
- Organic contaminators (humus): below limit value
- Alkali-silica reactivity: grade 0 (Polish method PN-B-06714-46)
- Apparent particle density 2.61 Mg/m³, water absorption WA24 0.9 %
Reading the grading curve
Passing 0.25 / 0.5 / 1 / 2 / 4 mm: 4.1 / 49.6 / 89.8 / 96.7 / 99.0 %. Over 85 % of the mass is 0.25 to 1 mm grains. This is a fairly uniform fine to medium sand.
A uniform sand is usually blended with coarse aggregate such as 2/8 or 8/16 to complete the curve of the mix. Your technologist sets the proportions. We send sieve results for mix design on request.
Volume
We currently extract about 1,000 tonnes every 3 hours. The dredger delivers about 330 t/h and production capacity is about 2 million tonnes a year. We serve single trucks as well as continuous offtake through the season.
Documents
We send the Declaration of Performance in Polish and English with CE marking, the initial type testing report and the water permit from Polish Waters (Wody Polskie). The DoP is issued under AVCP System 4.
If your specification calls for a different AVCP system or additional tests, tell us in your enquiry. New tests are in progress.
Questions and answers
Is this sand suitable for structural concrete?
It is CE marked to EN 12620, the standard for aggregates for concrete. Whether it fits a given structural mix depends on your specification and mix design. We provide the test data so your technologist can decide.
What is the price?
From PLN 27 per tonne net, loaded onto your truck at the pit. Large volumes and annual contracts are priced individually. EUR and delivered quotes on request.
